A woman's naked body was found in bushes near a metro station with her hands and legs tied in South Delhi's Vasant Kunj area on Saturday. The police suspect she was raped before being murdered.
Police said that she may have been sexually assaulted with a wooden plank, pieces of which were collected from the crime scene, Hindustan Times reported. A passerby had seen her body lying near the Ghitorni metro station at around 8.30 am on Saturday.
Special Commissioner of Police Deepak Mishra said the police have started investigating the incident and are also waiting for the post-mortem report. "We've registered a murder case and are awaiting the post-mortem report," Mishra said.
The victim, a mother of three children, was from Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district and was working at a stitching unit in Delhi. She stayed at Fatehpur Beri, 10 km southeast of Ghitorni, Delhi, with her children and husband.
On the day of the incident, the woman had left her house at around 9.30 am but did not reach home till late in the evening, following which her husband filed a missing complaint.
"The woman was working at a stitching unit. We are investigating how she came here from Fatehpur Beri," an investigating officer said.
