Popular television actress Mona Singh, who was last seen on Ekta Kapoor's "Pyar Ko Ho Jaane Do," has teamed up with the TV czarina once again in a new daily soap.
According to a report in The Times of India, Mona has been finalised as the lead in Ekta's much ambitious project "Mangalsutra." The show will revolve around Mona's character who would go to any extent to protect her husband.
"Mangalsutra" will reportedly replace the popular supernatural show "Naagin" that has Mouni Roy and Arjun Bijlani in the lead.
"After the success of Naagin, the production house intends to explore a similar subject. It's an interesting take on the life of a woman, who can go to any extent to protect her husband, even if it's from the clutches of an actual daayan (witch). The show is loosely inspired by Savitri, who fights for her husband's life and wins it back from Yamraj," a source told the daily.
Although Mona and Iqbal Khan starrer "Pyar Ko Ho Jaane Do" had a unique concept, it failed to garner the required TRPs, which resulted in the show going off air.
In other news, another new show "Kasam" produced by Ekta, has been creating a lot of buzz due to the star cast. While Ssharad Malhotra was said to have been finalised as the lead actor, there were reports that Yuvika Choudhary of "Bigg Boss 9" fame has been approached to play the female lead. However, latest reports suggest that the deal with Yuvika didn't materiliase and the role went to Kratika Sengar Dheer.
