Ekta Kapoor's "Kawach...Kaali Shaktiyon Se," which had replaced the highly successful supernatural show "Naagin" last month, will apparently go off air soon. The Mona Singh and Vivek Dahiya-starrer "Kawach," which was launched in June, had created a huge buzz due to its star cast. However, the makers have planned to end the show owing to the low Television Rating Points (TRPs).
According to India Forums, "Kawach" will be replaced by the second season of "Naagin." The Mouni Roy-starrer "Naagin 2" was supposed to be launched in October but due to the lacklustre performance of "Kawach," Colors channel has decided to launch "Naagin 2" one month ahead of its scheduled date.
In a recent statement, Mouni had also said that the new season of "Naagin" will be launched in September. "Naagin 2 is coming in September. I am very excited and nervous about it. I might or might not do any shows in between," Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) had quoted her as saying.
"Kawach" revolves around Mona's character Paridhi, who goes to any extent to protect her husband Rajbir (played by Vivek) from the spirit of his ex-lover Manjulika (Sara Khan). Interestingly, the first episode of "Kavach," which was aired on June 11, managed to attract 17.5 million viewers. However, soon after the debut, the show failed to live up to the viewers' expectations, resulting in a drop in its ratings.
Meanwhile, "Naagin 2" will apparently see Mouni as the daughter of Shivanya (also played by Mouni) and Rithik (played by Arjun Bijlani). However, speculations are rife that Arjun will not be joining the cast of the next instalment. The makers had approached Shakti Arora of "Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi" fame to play the male lead role opposite Mouni.
