After breaking a few records at the Kerala box office, Mohanlal's latest Pulimurugan has become the fastest Malayalam movie to enter the Rs 1 crore club at the multiplexes in Kochi. The action thriller, helmed by Vysakh, acquired the feat within eight days of its theatrical run.
Pulimurugan has become the third Mohanlal-starrer to enter the mark at the multiplexes in the town after completing 323 shows. It has now beaten the record of Dulquer Salmaan's Charlie, which made similar gross collection within nine days of its run from 341 shows. Similarly, Nivin Pauly's blockbuster Jacobinte Swargarajyam also made Rs 1 crore at the multiplexes within nine days.
However, it is Rajinikanth's Tamil movie Kabali which remains on the top position in the list of fastest movies making Rs 1 crore as the Pa Ranjith directorial crossed the mark in just five days. The blockbuster movie made the collection after running successfully in 386 shows.
According to the trade analysts, the Mohanlal-starrer has made a collection of more than Rs 30 crore so far. It has also become the fastest Malayalam movie to earn Rs 20 crore within three days. Meanwhile, Mammootty's Thoppil Joppan, which locked horns with Pulimurugan on October 7, has crossed Rs 50 lakh mark at the Kochi multiplexes within seven days from 179 shows. The comedy family entertainer is said to have earned a gross collection of Rs 8.64 crore within a week of its release from all over the state.
