Superstar Mohanlal is ruling the box office in Kerala with his back-to-back superhit movies -- Vismayam, Janatha Garage, Oppam and Pulimurugan -- released in the past two months. The actor also has director Jibu Jacob's family entertainer Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol (also spelled Munthiri Vallikal Thalirkkumbol) lined up for a release this year.
After announcing the Mohanlal-Meena-starrer as a Diwali release on November 4, producer Sophia Paul has decided to shift its release date respecting Antony Perumbavoor and Tomichan Mulakupaadam, who have bankrolled the superstar's recent releases Oppam and Pulimurugan. Now, the upcoming movie has been postponed as a Christmas release and will hit the screens on December 22.

With the latest announcement, it has to be noted that the Mohanlal-starrer will be pitted against other big movies, including Mammootty's The Great Father, Prithviraj Sukumaran's Ezra, Dulquer Salmaan's Jomonte Suvisheshangal and Dileep's Georgettante Pooram, among others at the Kerala box office.
Mohanlal plays panchayat secretary Ulahannan in Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol which marks the reunion of the superstar with Meena after blockbuster family thriller Drishyam. The family entertainer also stars Anoop Menon, Alencier Ley, Kalabhavan Shajon, Aima Rosmy Sebastian, Sanoop Santhosh,Bindu Panicker, Srinda Arhaan, Neha Saxena, Veena Nair, Nedumudi Venu, Aju Varghese, Suraj Venjaramood, Sudheer Karamana, Sharafudheen Suresh Krishna and Rahul Madhav in significant roles.
