Ever since Mohanlal announced the Rs 1,000 crore project Mahabharata, based on legendary writer MT Vasudevan Nair's masterpiece Randamoozham, people have been asking a question: Will this project really happen as announced by the team for this huge budget?
Clarifying the baseless rumours on the upcoming project, BR Shetty, the producer of the epic film, has finally opened up on it and confirmed that it is a confirmed project that he is really looking forward to.
When a radio jockey of Red FM Trivandrum asked Shetty if the Mohanlal-starrer will go on floors, Shetty responded: "Oh My God!! I am all for India and India's development, specially health and education. This project came just like that. Mr Shrikumar and MT Vasudevan Nair, I am one of their admirers. So when they came back to me asking if we can do Mahabharata that might cost Rs 750 crore, I said 'Baba, I am Shetty. Let it take Rs 1000 crore, but it should be best one in the world, better than Bollywood, better than Hollywood. And I committed for that. It is confirmed, 100%, 1000% confirmed. And the selection of the artistes is going on [sic]."
Shetty, who is said to be a passionate actor, also confirmed that he will be playing a role in Mahabharata. "I myself is an actor, I wanted to become an actor since my childhood, but my wife and mother didn't allow me for that. Even now, I am acting some role in this picture. I used to be a drama actor," the businessman based in Abu Dhabi added.
Shetty also said that Mohanlal is a good friend of his and that he is very proud that the versatile actor is appearing in the role of Bheem in the much-awaited film to be directed by VR Shrikumar Menon. He also hinted that the team of Mahabharata is trying to sign up Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman, and many other biggies of the world cinema to be part of the expensive Indian movie.
