In September 2016, superstar Mohanlal announced his upcoming Malayalam movie Lucifer. The news on the big-budget movie surprised the audience as it marks the association of the actor with young superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran, who will be directing the versatile actor on his debut directorial venture.
Prithviraj had also confirmed about the project, which has been scripted by late actor Bharath Gopi's son Murali Gopy and wiill be bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirwad Cinemas. Mohanlal had also posted two photos of him, and one of its caption reads: "In disguise of the limitless man - The Ocean of Love."
Assuming them to be the look of Mohanlal in the upcoming movie, the ardent followers of the superstar started sharing the fan made posters of Lucifer on social media. In no time, the posters went viral on social media and Prithviraj has now come forward to clarify that the posters doing the rounds on social media have no connection with his directorial venture.
"I am writing this post about my directorial venture Lucifer. First of all, thanks a lot to every one who have been encouraging me. Your excitement is the strength of this movie. But I just want to bring to your notice that the first-look posters, trailer and motion posters said to be that of Lucifer are not based on the real story and character in the movie. I am not trying to discourage anyone, but they are the unofficial creativity of fans and have no connection with the real story of Lucifer. The movie's pre-production work has started and we need more time for Lalettan to be a part of the project. I am expecting your support throughout this journey [translated from Malayalam]," Prithviraj posted on his Facebook page.
