The official theatrical trailer of Mohanlal's much-awaited Malayalam film "Koothara" has been released.
The trailer, which hit the net on Saturday evening (31 May), has received good response from the fans and has fetched more than 72,000 hits in less than a day.
"Koothara", scripted by Vini Vishwalal and directed by Sreenath Rajendran, is touted to be a mystery thriller with Mohanlal, Bharat, Sunny Wayne and Tovino Thomas appearing in pivotal roles.
The film deals with the life and journey of three youngsters Koobrin (Bharath), Tharun (Tovino Thomas) and Ram (Sunny Wayne). The project marks the return of actor Bharath to the Malayalm film industry after nearly 10 years. He was last seen in the 2004-hit "4 the people." Later, the actor shifted his focus towards the Tamil film industry and did several films. This year, Bharath is making his comeback to Mollywood by playing a key role in "Koothara."
Bhavana, Janani Iyer, Gauthami Nair, Shrita Sivadas and Madhurima play supporting roles in the film. Television actress Neena Kurup, who returned to the silver screen with Dileep's "Ringmaster" after a brief hiatus, will be seen in a Muslim character in the Mohanlal starrer.
"Koothara" is the second directorial venture of director Srinath after his 2012-release "Second Show," which turned out to be a big hit. The cinematogrpahy is handled by Pappu and the music is scored by Gopi Sundar.
The film's shooting commenced last year and went on for several schedules, which had delayed its release. Now, the Mohanlal starrer is completely wrapped up and the trailer has also been released.
The film, produced under the banner of Marikar Films and distributed by UTV Motion Pictures, is likely to hit the screens on 12 June.
"Koothara" has generated a lot of positive buzz thanks to the impressive first look poster, teaser and trailer. Moreover, the presence of Mohanlal raises the expectations as the actor is one of the most popular stars of Malayalam cinema.
Mohanlal's last release - "Mr Fraud" - hit the screens only on 16 May. The action thriller flick, directed by Unnikrishanan, received average reviews and failed to set the cash registers ringing. In less than a month, the actor's upcoming film "Koothara" is all set for a release. It remains to be seen if the film would impress the audience and strike gold at the box office or if it would fizzle out without creating an impact.
