In a pathbreaking move, BJP has apparently offered a ticket to Mohanlal to contest in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. A report published in the website of Republic channel reveals that the Mollywood superstar has been approached to contest against Shashi Tharoor in the Thiruvananthapuram constituency.
The news about Mohanlal's possible political entry comes just a day after he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inform the services offered by ViswaSanthi Foundation, an NGO named after Mohanlal's parents. Soon after the meeting, Narendra Modi lauded the superstar's humility and social service initiatives.
Yesterday, I had a wonderful meeting with @Mohanlal Ji. His humility is endearing. His wide range of social service initiatives are commendable and extremely inspiring. pic.twitter.com/f3Dv3owHUV

As per reports, RSS is the key player behind Mohanlal's political entry. It should be noted that the ViswaSanthi Foundation has been closely working with RSS for the past several years, and the Sangh is reportedly aiming to use this association which will gradually pave the way for Mohanlal's grand entry to politics.
Interestingly, the RSS has kept the saffron party's Kerala leadership out of the loop in its effort to impress one of the most influential actors in the state. It has been learned that Mohanlal's meeting with Narendra Modi was secretly planned by RSS kingpins, and no state leaders were aware of this move.
It has been a privilege to meet our Honourable Prime Minister Shri. @narendramodi ji on this auspicious day of Janmashtami. Briefed him about @ViswaSanthiFndn and our multifaceted social initiatives. pic.twitter.com/Bj70R1g8nA

Earlier, BJP had apparently planned to rope in Kummanam Rajasekharan to contest in the Thiruvananthapuram constituency. However, Kummanam was transferred to Mizoram as the state's governor which made BJP and RSS leadership think about a backup plan.
Political experts believe that Mohanlal's entry in active politics with a BJP ticket will be a huge boost for the party. If the 58-year-old actor gives a positive nod to RSS' move, then it will surely emerge as a hard blow, both to the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Indian National Congress (INC).
On the acting front, Mohanlal is now busy with the filming of his new movie 'Lucifer'. The shooting of his most-anticipated movie 'Odiyan' is already completed, and the post-production works are now progressing steadily.
