Mohanlal and Priyadarshan share a great bond, hence it was surprising to learn that the director was making his next movie with Jayasurya.
This announcement came as a great disappointment for many fans who were awaiting another classic Mohanlal – Priyadarshan film. Bowing to the fans' demand, director Priyadarshan has now roped in Mohanlal for his movie "Aamayum Muyalam."
Mohanlal will reprise the role of the narrator in the film.
The actor will introduce the characters in the story. Mohanlal has previously turned narrator in six movies including "Swarnam", "Pazhassi Raja", "Wilson Periera" – an animated short film, "The Hit List" and "Nammukku Parkkan".
Mohanlal and Priyadarshan, who are childhood friends, have done 30 movies together. The duo marked the beginning of slapstick comedies in Malayalam cinema, which at that time was a revolutionary change and their collaborations were highly popular in the 1980s and 1990s.
Meanwhile, Priyadarshan is planning to release his movie "Aamayum Muyalum" which is currently in its post production stage during the Christmas vacation. The story of the film revolves around people who live on either banks of a river and the struggles and conflict between them.
"Aamayum Muyalam" is touted to be a folktale with a comic twist along the lines of Priyadarshan's hit film "Thenmavin Kombathu" starring Mohanlal and Shobhana. The script of the movie is written by Priyadarshan himself. It is after a long time that the ace director has written the script for a Malayalam film. The last film that he scripted was the 2005 Dileep-starrer "Vettam".
The film has a strong star cast led by pioneers of comedy genre in Malayalam cinema. Pia Bajpai will play the lead heroine opposite Jayasurya and the film also features Innocent, Nedumudi Venu, Harishree Ashokan, Manianpilla Raju, Mamookoya, KPAC Lalitha, Edavela Babu, Nandu and Anoop Menon.
