Malayalam superstar Mohanlal celebrated the 16th anniversary of his blockbuster movie "Narasimham" on the sets of his upcoming action thriller "Pulimurugan". The actor shared the photos of the cake cutting ceremony on his Facebook page on Wednesday, 27 January.
The Shaji Kailas directorial "Narasimham", which made tremendous box office records in 2000, was re-released with houseful shows in seven theatres in seven districts in Kerala on 26 January as part of the movie's 16th anniversary. The mass entertainer is still loved by Mohanlal fans and is popular among the movie-goers for the actor's hit dialogue "Ne Po Mone Dinesha".
The action thriller was produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirwad Cinemas and was made on a budget of about Rs 2 crore. The movie is said to have collected more than Rs 22 crore then and became the the first Malayalam flick to have completed its theatrical run for more than 200 days at the Kerala box office.
"Narasimham" had an ensemble cast, inlcuding Thilakan, NF Varghese, Jagathi Sreekumar, Aishwarya, Bharathi, Spadikam George, Kanaka, Kalabhavan Mani, TP Madhavan, Maniyanpilla Raju, Narendra Prasad, Sai Kumar, Narayanan Nair, VK Sreeraman, Augustine and Bheeman Raghu in pivotal roles and megastar Mammootty in a cameo role.
The upcoming action thriller "Pulimurugan", directed by Vysakh, is expected to hit the screens in the first half of 2016. It also stars Kamalini Mukherjee, Jagapati Babu, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Bala, Vinu Mohan and Kishore. Meanwhile, due to the shooting of "Pulimurugan", Mohanlal couldn't attend the funeral ceremony of late versatile actress Kalpana on Tuesday.
