ABC's "Modern Family" will be back on television after a two-week hiatus on Wednesday, 22 April. Season 6 episode 20 will see Claire and Phil making some unlikely friends, Jay tuning into his inner gay and Mitch and Gloria trying to be cool.
Jay (Ed O'Neill) has come a long way in terms of understanding and accepting his gay son Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) as compared to his initial mild homophobia. But, is he open enough to be gay for his son-in-law Cam (Eric Stonestreet)?
Cam invites Jay to sub in on his bowling team for a finals tournament and Jay agrees. But, what he doesn't know is that it, "The Britney Spares", is an all-gay league. Will Jay be able to convince his temporary team-mates that he too, is gay, without offending anyone?
Meanwhile, Claire (Julie Bowen) and Phil (Ty Burrell) - who have so far not been getting along with their crass neighbours Ronnie (Steve Zahn) and Amber (Andrea Anders) - will get to know them better. The LaFontaines are loud and obnoxious, but have shown moments of compassion like when they patiently entertained Phil's father Frank (Fred Willard) and all his retired friends in "The Big Guns". In "Knock 'En Down", Phil and Claire will finally see that their neighbours aren't as awful as they think, and could even be great company.
On the other hand, Gloria (Sofia Vergara) and Mitch tag along with Haley (Sarah Hyland) when she goes clubbing to prove that they are still cool. The adults are in for a crazy surprise when they find out what the pre-party rituals entail.
Watch out for Season 6 episode 20 of "Modern Family", titled "Knock 'Em Down", on ABC at 9.00 pm (EST).
