A small time model was allegedly drugged, held hostage and robbed of his valuables by four women in Goregaon in north Mumbai.
According to a report in the Mid Day, Aman Shahaye, a software engineer from Uttar Pradesh, came to Mumbai on March 17 and was staying at a hotel.
During an audition, he met a girl identified as Shabnam. Being new to the city, he inquired with her whether she could suggest a place for him to stay. Shabnam agreed to let him lodge with her and her three girlfriends at their Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) flat in Goregaon.
It's also reported that on March 25, Aman went to the flat after completing a modelling assignment in Lokhandwala. Shabnam allegedly offered him a soft drink laced with sedatives. The women then thrashed him and stole his laptop and other valuables. They withdrew Rs 60,000 using his credit card.
Aman's family came to know about the incident when his uncle Pradeep Kumar flew down to Mumbai after the family failed to contact with him for some time.
Local residents found Aman lying on the roadside unconscious and reported to the police Tuesday night.
However, the police allegedly didn't take the incident seriously and sent the duo from one police station to another for filing a case.
Pradeep and Aman first visited Oshiwara police station, where the officers told them that since the victim had been found in the jurisdiction of Goregaon, they should register a complaint there. When the two approached Goregaon police station, the officers declared Aman a drunkard and asked the duo to leave after merely registering a note in the diary. They finally recorded a statement late on Thursday night.
An FIR has been filed at Goregaon police station but the officials maintained that "no knowledge of the matter at the moment."
When the police went to the Goregaon flat to investigate, the girls were nowhere to be found.
The girls are suspected to be involved in earlier cases of abduction and money extortion with other youths who were new to the city. It has been alleged that they even made videos of men in compromising positions.
