After officially commencing the rollout of stable MIUI 7.2 ROM for select devices last week, Xiaomi finally started pushing out the software for the second batch of Mi phones. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer hasn't confirmed the global release date for MIUI 7.2, but the new software would power majority devices in China by the time it completes the second batch.
The second batch of Mi phones set to receive the MIUI 7.2 ROM include, Mi Note, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi 2/2S, Mi Pad 2, Redmi 3, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 4G (Dual SIM), Redmi Note 3G, Redmi 2A, and Redmi 2. The update is carried over the air and a notification will appear on the device when the software is available for download.
For those who cannot wait for the OTA update to arrive, downloadable ROM packages are available on the company's official website.
Xiaomi brings several changes and enhancements with MIUI 7.2. The new software includes new features like fingerprint payments and anti-theft, which enables remove wipe of the data in case the device is stolen.
Other changes include a new Mi Mover app to easily transfer files to a new Mi device, an improved Find device app and a customisable Wallpaper Carousel. The software update also improved Lockscreen, Status Bar, Notifications bar and Home screen animations.
According to the detailed MIUI 7.2 changelog, the company said apps like Music, Backup, Weather, File Explorer, Cleaner, Mi Drop and Mi Cloud have been updated with bug-fixes and optimisations. The software update is expected to be launched in India and other global markets "soon."
