Xiaomi started rolling out the stable build of MIUI 7.2 ROM to select Mi smartphones in China ahead of the global release, which is expected to begin soon. The latest version of the MIUI ROM comes with slew of new features, optimisations and other improvements.
Xiaomi revealed the list of devices to be updated first, and they include Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi 4S, Mi Note Pro, Mi 4c, Mi Pad 1, Redmi Note 4G (single SIM) and Redmi 1S. The second batch of MIUI 7.2 rollout begins March 9 for Xiaomi Mi Note, Mi 3, 4, Mi 4i, Mi 2/2S, Mi Pad 2, Redmi 3, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 2,Redmi Note 4G (Dual SIM), Redmi Note 3G, Redmi 2A, and Redmi 2.
"MIUI 7.2 China stable build is now rolling out! From now on, many of you should be able to progressively receive the update over-the-air (OTA) on your phones via the Updater app. If you cannot wait, you can download the ROM packages in this thread below," Xiaomi said in its official MIUI blog while listing the download links for compatible devices.
While Xiaomi has listed all the changes in its latest ROM, the company refrained from revealing if MIUI 7.2 is based on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow. So far, only the company's flagship Mi 5 smartphone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, while the rest of the devices have Android 5.1 Lollipop.
What are the changes in MIUI 7.2?
MIUI 7.2 brings a series of changes to Mi smartphones, including the introduction of Mi Mover app to easily transfer files to a new Mi device, an improved Find device app and a customisable Wallpaper Carousel. The software update also improved Lockscreen, Status Bar, Notifications bar and Home screen animations.
According to the MIUI 7.2 changelog, apps like Music, Backup, Weather, File Explorer, Cleaner, Mi Drop and Mi Cloud have been updated with bug-fixes and optimisations.
When is MIUI 7.2 stable ROM coming to India and other global markets?
Xiaomi did not reveal the exact release date for MIUI 7.2 in India or other markets where its presence is marked. But the official blog reads: "MIUI 7.2 global stable build is coming soon!"
