Mitsubishi has pulled the wraps off the automatic variant of new Pajero Sport in India on Saturday with a price tag of ₹23.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Available in two wheel drive variant, the new automatic SUV takes on the likes of Toyota Fortuner 4×2 AT, SsangYong Rexton RX7 AT, Chevrolet Captiva AWD and Ford Endeavour 4×2 AT in India. Under the hood, the SUV packs the same 2.5-litre turbocharged CRDi diesel motor, which can churn out a power of 178 PS at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 350Nm between 2,000 to 2,500 rpm.
Though the power of the engine remains the same as that of the 4x4 variant, the torque has been cut down by 50Nm.The engine comes mated to a new five-speed automatic transmission and the 4x2 AT variant is more fuel efficient than its manual version, which gives a return of 12.1 kmpl.
From the visual standpoint, slight changes have been made to the chrome grille and front bumper. Inside the cabin, the SUV gets a 2-DIN multimedia system with an integrated DVD player, navigation system and reverse parking display; automatic climate control and ORVM cover integrated indicators. The car will be available in five body colours - White Solid, Cool Silver Metallic, Titanium Gray Metallic, Black Mica and Deep Blue Mica.
Like its manual variant, Pajero Sport Automatic will also be assembled locally at the Tiruvallur facility in Tamil Nadu.
