Japanese carmaker Mitsubishi is all set to relaunch the Montero SUV in the country. Sources told International Business Times India that the relaunch and booking for the SUV are underway. IBT learned that the SUV's on-road price in Bengaluru will be close to Rs. 84 lakh and the company has received close to14 bookings from the city so far.

The SUV will be brought to India in CBU line. Mitsubishi previously sold fourth generation Pajero as Montero in India. The new Montero is powered by a 3.2-litre, in-line 4-cyl, Common rail DI-D diesel engine that develops 189bhp at 3,800rpm and 441Nm of torque at 2,000rpm mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with sports mode. The SUV will be equipped with Super Select 4-wheel drive II and all wheel traction control (AWC).

In the new avatar, the Montero comes with a different face compared to the 2012 model that was sold here. The SUV sports a new bonnet and chrome-finished large grille. The grille is flanked by a set of resigned headlamps. The tweaked front bumper now houses an LED strip lamps. Side and rear profile of the SUV largely remains untouched barring the new set of six twin-spoke alloy wheels.

The new Montero measures 4900mm in length, 1875mm in width, 1900mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,780mm wheelbase. It comes with 215mm ground clearance and 2335kg kerb weight. The Montero will be sold in seven colour options: warm white, white solid, black, Eiger grey, cool silver, quartz brown and platinum beige.
