A 32-year-old woman industrialist, who was earlier reported missing, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence on Oct 23.
Akansha Rathi, director of Rathi and Steel Industries Ltd, was found dead at her Dwarka home in New Delhi, with a dupatta wrapped around her neck, Indian Express reported.
Police reported that a domestic help found Akansha lying unconscious on the bed and alerted the woman's father. He immediately rushed his daughter to Rockland hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. Hospital authorities informed the police of her death and sent the body for autopsy.
Akansha's family members have not yet filed a complaint over her death.
Police are investigating the cause of her death from all possible angles and are also considering it to be a case of suicide. Preliminary investigations showed that Akansha may have been killed after consuming a high dose of anti-depressants. Authorities are waiting for the post mortem report to determine the exact cause.
A week before her body was found Akansha filed a dowry harassment case against her in-laws on Oct 16. After the death of her husband Anirudh in September, Akansha came to live with his family for a while but could not stay there for long. Eventually, her father brought her to his house in Delhi.
Akansha and husband had won the Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award in 2009 and she has also penned for fashion columns in a leading Indian news daily. The couple was reportedly facing financial difficulties and her husband's illness forced Akansha to handle the Indore unit alone, Hindustan Times reported.
