"Minority Report" is an upcoming American science-fiction crime drama, based on the sequel adaptation of 1956 short story "The Minority Report" by Philip K Dick and 2002 film of the same name.
The series will act as a sequel to the Tom Cruise starrer and will take place 15 years after the events in the movie. Steven Spielberg acts as the executive producer of the series. According to the reports, the series' story will revolve around a precog named Dash (Stark Sands), who has the unique ability to predict a crime before it happens.
The premise of the new series will be set in Washington DC, where the life of the residents has changed significantly after the pre-crime unit was dismantled. Though the new show is a sequel to the movie, the tone of it is warmer and inviting.
The series stars Megan Good as Detective Lara Vega, a cop who helps Dash stop crimes before they happen and is ready to break the rules if needed. Wilmer Valderama will play Lieutenant Will Blake, a cop who always goes by the book and is Vega's partner. Nick Zano will essay the character of Arthur, the twin brother of Dash and Laura Regan as Agatha -- Dash's sister. Both are precogs like Dash.
Minority report will mostly emphasise on the life of precogs and their so-called humanity. Since Dash grew up without much company, he will find it hard to cope up like a normal human being in the society and will constantly try to adjust to the world. Apart from it, there are a lot of new, interesting and innovative technologies on the show that was created by Spielberg himself. The actors have hinted that the audience may also get to see some romance between Blake and Vega.
Some familiar faces from the movie may make an appearance on the show like Wally (Daniel London), the caretaker of the precogs and maybe even Tom Cruise himself.
Minority Report premieres on Fox at 9 pm on 21 September.
