Adding to the commotion of the ongoing exodus of Northeastern people from Pune, a minor bomb blast incident took place at a commercial place in Dange Chowk of Pimpri Chinchwad on Friday.
According to the media reports, police said that bomb blast happened at Laxmi Tara Complex at around 3:30 pm, injuring a five-year-old girl child. The bomb squad was rushed to the incident venue and the officials are probing the explosion, said reports.
Meanwhile, officials have ruled out any terror involvement in the blast and the nature of the bomb is yet to be ascertained.
The reports suggested that the bomb went off when a small child picked up a plastic bag, which supposedly had inflammable contains, on the road side near Laxmi Tara Complex.
"This is a small explosion and one small child is injured. We are trying to investigate. It is not clear how the blast occurred. It's of a low intensity. Citizens should not panic and call Pune Police Control Room," Joint Commissioner of Police, Pune, SK Singhal told CNN IBN.
The bomb blast incident comes close on the heels of explosions that rocked the state on the day India got its new Home Minister. Last week, four bombs went off on the busy streets of Pune and two more bombs were defused by the Anti-Terror Squad.
The blasts took place ahead of Sushil Kumar Shinde, the new Home Minster's scheduled visit to the city.
