Miley Cyrus admitted that she'd rather be naked than cry in front of people, referring to her recent breakup with Liam Hemsworth and her recently released single "Wrecking Ball" where she poses nude.
Everything about Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's relationship was made very public. Right from their early engagement to their petty fights and their final spilt in September - everything made headlines. Now, even a month after their split, fans and the media want to know what has been happening in the former couple's lives.
Despite rumors that Hemsworth may have cheated on Cyrus before the split, and reports suggesting that the "Hunger Games" actor has already started dating other people, Cyrus hasn't shed a tear. In fact, she's so focused on her career and everything she's got going for herself that she "couldn't be happier." Even the criticism she received for her VMA performance and her nudity in "Wrecking Ball" hasn't been able to pull her spirits down.
"For me, nudity has never been something that I've ever tripped about," she said, according to NY Daily News. "I don't really see it the way everyone else sees it. I'd rather be naked in front of people than cry in front of people because I don't like showing weakness and that shows a lot of vulnerabilities."
If the nudity in the video wasn't enough, Cyrus making out with a sledgehammer at the direction of Terry Richardson was sure to grab all the attention the song needed to become a success.
"[He said] 'Look like you're in love with it, you're really sad!'" Cyrus recalled. "I just started kissing it. I didn't even know why. He was like, 'Keep doing it! Keep doing it! Looks like you really are in love with this thing!'"
Narrating the shoot, Cyrus revealed that she was so immersed in it that when she started licking the sledgehammer, she was told to stop because it had paint on it.
"I said 'I don't care, I think this is actually going to be dope,'" Cyrus said recalling the incident. "So everything around just looks like I'm in love and holding on to whatever last little bit that there is, even if that's what's destroying the place. You're holding onto that sledgehammer even if it's what's destroying everything around you."
And it seems like her hard work and determination finally paid off. Earlier this week, Cyrus became the first artist this year to rank No.1 on both the singles and album U.K. sales charts. While her recent song "Wrecking Ball" features right on the top of the U.K. singles sales chart released yesterday, her album "Bangerz" became her third U.K. top ten albums.
