American software giant, Microsoft on Wednesday (15 April) launched a new budget smartphone dubbed as Lumia 540 Dual.
"The Lumia team is passionate about product-making, creating every smartphone with a distinct design personality within a coherent design approach," said Iain Pottie, senior design manager of industrial design and mechanics at Microsoft.
"Our customers are the source of so much inspiration, but we know they have different needs and budgets, so we always want to provide choice. That's why today we're introducing the new Lumia 540 Dual SIM," he added.
The new Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual sports 5.0-inch HD display and runs on the company's proprietary software Windows 8.1 OS (with Lumia Denim update). It is powered by the Snapdragon 200 series quad-core SoC (System on Chip) and backed by the 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory and a 2200 mAh battery which can run the phone for close to 24 days under standby mode.
Other stipulated features include an 8-MP camera on the rear-side and a 5-MP snapper on the front.

The company has confirmed that the new Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual will be made available in early May to the IMEA (India, Middle East and Africa) and APAC (Asia Pacific) regions, and to Italy with an RRP of $149 USD (around €141/₹9,300)
