Within a month after taking over Finnish smartphone maker Nokia, Microsoft is reportedly prepping to release a new Lumia phone in India next week.
Microsoft has begun sending out press invites to media houses for an event scheduled at New Delhi on 12 May (Monday), reported BGR. Though there is no direct reference to the significance of the occasion, the invite's tag-line - 'The Power of Two' does give away that Microsoft may launch the company's first ever dual-SIM based Windows Phone OS device Lumia 630.
Lumia 630 originally got launched under Nokia brand in early April. Though the number '630' gives an impression of being an upgrade over mid-range devices- Lumia 620 and 625, it is an entry level smartphone with 4.5-inch FWVGA (854x480p) display having pixel density of 221 ppi and packs a 512MB, 8GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 128GB), 1830 mAh battery, a 5.0-megapixel camera (no LED flash support) and no-front camera for video chatting.
Only mentionable features of Lumia 630 include the latest Windows Phone v8.1 OS and a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. It is expected to be priced $159 (Single-SIM model), around ₹9,570 and $169 (dual-SIM model), around ₹10,165, excluding taxes.
