Microsoft Surface Pro 5 next-gen 2-in-1 detachable device is now in the news for potentially all the wrong reasons. Earlier, Microsoft loyalists seemed frustrated with the Redmond-based company deciding to push the release of the Surface Pro 5 to 2017 from October 2016. Now, if the latest rumour mills are anything to go by, then there are possibilities that the 2-in-1 device will be hard to get.
As per the newest rumours, there are possibilities that Microsoft will once again reschedule the official release of the Surface Pro 5 due to its expected release of the Surface Phone. The latter is now said to be on top of Microsoft's minds more than the Surface Pro 5 hybrid gadget. At this point in time, it is worth noting that a parallel set of rumours are hinting at Microsoft completely phasing out the existing Lumia range to make way for the release of Surface Phone. Recent developments where Lumia handsets have received massive price cuts only add substance to the rumours hinting at the emergence of Surface Phone.
Moving back to the Surface Pro 5 hybrid device, a Qualcomm SoC is now being rumoured to be incorporated within. Interestingly, this is in streak contrast to earlier reports that hinted at the incorporation of the next-gen Kaby lake processor. A Qualcomm SoC within Surface Pro 5 is expected to lend the laptop-tablet hybrid superior battery life in comparison to the rival Apple iPad slates.
Finally, with regard to the release date of the Surface Pro 5, unofficial channels are claiming that Microsoft will announce the device (officially) even before the Surface Phone is announced; that is likely during the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017) next year in which Microsoft's participation is confirmed.
Nonetheless, whatever the case, it is best for Microsoft loyalists to expect the Surface Pro 5 by next year.
