If a Windows Phone 8.1 device has been on your shopping list this holiday wait no more as Microsoft has slashed the price of its affordable Lumia 635. The Redmond based software giant is looking to attract some early shoppers with a massive discount on the Lumia 635. It has dropped its price from $129 to just $39. That's a straight $90 saving on an unlocked mid-range smartphone by Microsoft.
The offer is valid on the AT&T version of Lumia 635 and does not require buyers to sign a contract with the carrier. The same handset on T-Mobile's network is listed for $99 on Newegg, which is a bargain from its usual $249.99. This shows Microsoft's offer on the AT&T version of the handset is a worthy deal.
Microsoft's Lumia 635 is the latest entry in the Lumia series, which was unveiled alongside, Lumia 630 and Lumia 930. As for the smartphone's specs, it sports a 4.5-inch IPS display with a nominal screen resolution of 480x854 pixels. The screen is glove-friendly, allowing users to navigate through different functions on the phone without removing gloves. The Lumia 635 is powered by a 1.4 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and backed by 512MB RAM, 1,830 mAh battery, 8 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot.
Selfie lovers will be disappointed with the lack of front-facing camera but the rear side is equipped with a 5-megapixel shooter. The smartphone is 4G-compatible, enabling high-speed browsing and downloads.
Even if you are waiting for Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals on this particular handset, at $39 it is a worthy buy. Microsoft has a countdown running on its site to remind shoppers of the Black Friday offers.
Note:The Lumia 635 is currently showing out of stock (and why not for this price!). There is no word on whether Microsoft plans on filling its inventory anytime before Black Friday. Keep an eye out anyways.
