The long rumoured Microsoft Lumia 950 series will finally see the light of day next month.

American technology giant Microsoft has just confirmed that it is hosting Windows 10 devices event next month on 6 October, 10: 00 am EDT (22:30 pm IST) at Skylight, Moynihan (New York City).

The Microsoft invitation (courtesy, The Verge) reads –"We have some exciting news to share about Windows 10 devices", almost confirming that the company is ready with the 2015 series flagship smartphones.

Numerous reports have indicated that Microsoft in all probability will unveil the rumoured Lumia 950 (aka Talkman) smartphone and the Lumia 950 XL (aka Cityman) phablet next month.

It is learnt that Lumia 950 will feature a 5.2-inch WQHD (2560x1440p) display and run on the Windows 10 OS backed by Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core SoC (System on Chip), 3GB RAM and a 3000 mAh battery.

On the other hand, its phablet sibling, Lumia 940 XL is expected to flaunt bigger 5.7-inch WQHD display and will be powered by the Snapdragon 810 series Octa-core SoC (System on Chip), 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and a high capacity 3300 mAh battery.

Both the devices are said to boast state-of-art camera features. They are expected to come equipped with 20mp PureView camera on the back and a 5mp wide-angle snapper in the front.

Key aspect of the new Lumia phones is that Microsoft has reportedly incorporated Iris-scanner based bio-metric technology, which is said to be more advanced compared to finger-print sensor, we find in current crop of marquee phones like Apple iPhone 6S series, Samsung Galaxy S6 series and others.

Besides the new Lumia 950 series, Microsoft is also rumoured to unveil new line of Surface Pro 4 series tablets as well.
