Microsoft has released an array of mid-range devices such as Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 540, Lumia 532, Lumia 430, and Lumia 435 this year and more seem to be in the offing. The company is expected to release the Lumia 940, 940 XL and Lumia 1040 in the next few months.
Despite the utmost secrecy maintained by the company, several reports have claimed the Microsoft Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL could see the light of the day this year. Some even claimed that its release date could fall in the fourth quarter, just ahead of the festive season.

In another report, WinFuture (via GSMArena) claimed that the Lumia 940 might sport a 5.2-inch QHD screen with 1,440 x 2,560px, powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor and house a 3,000mAh battery.

On the other hand, GSMArena reported that the Lumia 940 XL might sport a 5.7-inch screen, powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor and house a 3,300mAh battery.
