After months of speculations around its release date, specifications and even a possible cancellation, Microsoft's mid-range devices, Lumia 850 and Lumia 750 are back in news after a lull. This time it's about one of the devices clearing certification in China.
Microsoft Lumia 850 and Lumia 750 are expected to be released in the first quarter of 2016, though the date is not confirmed. It was rumoured in July last year that the devices would be launched along with the Lumia 550, but that didn't come true as it was nowhere to be seen when the Lumia 550 was released. There are also reports that the devices would be released at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2016 (MWC 2016) which is scheduled to be held from 22 to 25 February.
According to a report by Ithome (in Chinese, via NokiaPowerUser), a Lumia device with model number RM-1182, which was earlier cleared in Indonesia, passed 3C certification in China on 28 December. It's been reported that China Unicom-bound RM-1182 could be either the Lumia 850 or the Lumia 750. Several reports have claimed the devices would be launched with the Lumia 650 (model number RM-1152), which has already cleared certification in the US.
Not much is known about the Lumia 850, but VMPowerUser has reported that a device codenamed Honjo, believed to be the Lumia 850, has been spotted on Chinese website Tieba, and it sports a 5.7-inch display with 1,080p resolution and a Snapdragon 615 SoC processor.
It was earlier reported that the Lumia 850 would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor clocking 1.5 GHz, Adreno 405 GPU and Cat.7 LTE. There were also reports that the device could sport a 5.4-inch display, come packed with 16GB internal storage (expandable memory), 2GB RAM, 10 MP main camera, 5 MP front-snapper and a 2,650-mAh battery.
On the other hand, the Lumia 750 is expected to feature a 5-inch display with 720p resolution. Under the hood, it is expected to have a Snapdragon 410 processor that clocks 1.2GHz, 8GB internal memory (expandable storage), 1GB RAM, 8 MP main camera, a 5MP secondary snapper and a 2,650-mAh battery.
