Microsoft has not revealed the release date of its upcoming phablet, the Lumia 840 but its launch is imminent, as its testing is being reportedly done in India. The device is expected to come in both single and dual models.
According to information given on Zauba website, which keeps track of imports and exports in India, two devices with 5.7-inch display had been discharged at Delhi from Finland for internal testing.
The information also claimed that a unit of the device would cost ₹38346. Interestingly, Microsoft Lumia 840 is said to be a mid-range device, thus expected to come with a reasonable price tag, so, many might think that the device mentioned in the website could be the Lumia 940 XL. But the device could be the Lumia 840 XL as Lumia flagship devices usually don't have dual-sim version.
It may be recalled that NokiaPowerUser (via GSM Arena) had earlier reported citing a source that the Microsoft Lumia 840 running Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 operating system would be released soon without mentioning the exact date.
The Lumia 840 is expected to come with several feature upgrades over its predecessor, the Lumia 830, especially processor and camera. The Lumia 830 received lots of criticism for its Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 and 0.9 MP front snapper.
"So, we have some info about one such mid-ranger in works, that may pack Dual-Sim support, 13-14 MP rear camera (PureView), 5 MP FFC, better processor and may sport similar or slightly modified design to Lumia 830. While it is not sure what the name may be, we may call it Lumia 840 for our convenience. This device may have a screen size around 5-inch," NokiaPowerUser had reported.
