American software giant Microsoft is reportedly planning to release the new budget smartphone dubbed as Lumia 540 Dual in India.
The company has invited select media houses for the event scheduled for 30 April in New Delhi. The invitation (courtesy, BGR India) reads – "Microsoft cordially invites you to join us witness the new benchmark in affordable smartphones in India". This indicates that the Redmond firm, in all probability, will launch the recently unveiled Lumia 540 Dual in India on Thursday.
The new Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual sports 5.0-inch HD display and runs on the company's proprietary software Windows 8.1 OS (with Lumia Denim update). It is powered by the Snapdragon 200 series quad-core SoC (System on Chip) and is backed by 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory and a 2200 mAh battery which can run the phone for close to 24 days on standby mode.
Other stipulated features include 8mp camera on the rear and a 5mp snapper on the front.
Microsoft Lumia 540 price details:
As per the press statement released during the unveiling on 15 April, the company had confirmed that the new Lumia 540 Dual will cost $149 USD (around €141/₹9,300), and considering rupee exchange rates and custom import-duty taxes, the new Microsoft phone is likely to set you back by around ₹10,000.
