Micromax has launched the big-screen Canvas Viva A72 smartphone which is pegged to be one of the cheapest phablets in the Indian handset market.
Canvas Viva A72 sports a 5.0-inch WVGA screen with 480x800p display resolution and it runs on a single-core processor with 1GHz CPU speed. It packs 156MB RAM, 512MB ROM and 110MB internal memory with options of expanding up to 32GB.
The new phablet also features a 3.0-megapixel main camera and a 0.3-megapixel VGA camera on the front.
The only drawback of the device is that it runs on the out-dated Android mobile OS version 2.3.6 Gingerbread, whereas its rivals are already offering their handsets with Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Some companies have even begun offering their handsets with the latest Android OS Jelly Bean.
On the bright side, the Micromax phablet holds a price-tag of just ₹6,999, probably making it the cheapest 5.0-inch smartphone in the industry. Micromax Canvas Viva A72 is currently available through popular online retailer Snapdeal.com.
