Micromax's subsidiary YU Televentures is reportedly planning to launch a new smartphone next week.
On Wednesday (2 September) had tweeted- "If Mona Lisa had a selfie stick, don't you think we'd have had many beautiful pics of hers? #FutureMeetsPast" and posted a graphic teaser with Monalisa holding a selfie stick with a caption – "What if ART OF THE PAST met EXPRESSION OF THE FUTURE?." This cryptic message apparently incited speculations the home-grown company may unveil a camera-centric smartphone soon.
Later, Snapdeal chief Kunal Bahl on Twitter confirmed that he had seen the mystery device and assured fans, they will be pleased to see the new YU smartphone. YU founder Rahul Sharma replied to the tweet and said the company is "baking something really cool- think we have hit gold here". The endorsement from Bahl led many to believe that the new device will be Snapdeal-exclusive, but it is not known as to when exactly it will be launched.
Now, it has been confirmed that YU will host an event on 8 September. The press invite received by FoneArena shows a horizontally placed black-hued device with a silver rocker (Volume down, Power and Volume Up) on the edge and we also see a camera bump on the rear-side.
Based on the teaser, it seems like the key attribute of the device will be the camera and the focus will be more specifically on the front-snapper. Going by the recently-unveiled selfie-based devices, our guess is that it will boast LED flash on the front.
As of now, there are no details on the the YU smartphone's display, RAM, CPU and battery capacity. Considering the previous device launch pattern, YU is likely to use social network and throw some hints about key features to keep the buzz alive till the official launch on Tuesday. Stay tuned for more updates.
