Leading indigenous smartphone maker, Micromax has roped in Hollywood heart-throb Hugh Jackman as the brand ambassador for the company's upcoming next-generation smartphone Canvas Turbo.
Speaking on his new association with Micromax, Hugh Jackman said, "I am extremely thrilled and honored to be part of the Micromax family. I am a huge lover of India as it is one of the most exciting countries in the world and we also share our love for cricket." reported First Post.
The news seem ironic considering the fact that Micromax being an Indian manufacturer has chosen an international artist, Hugh Jackman (Australian) over desi Bollywood actors. It looks like Micromax might make use of Jackman's wide international celebrity image for a brand make-over or might have also chalked out a plan to take the brand to global market. Taiwanese firm, HTC too had roped in Iron Man series hero, Robert Downey Jr. and the company is reportedly spending close to one billion dollars for the new campaign 'HTC: Here's To Change'.

However, the teaser video neither reveals any features nor any launch details of Canvas Turbo. But it does show that smartphone will have a shiny metallic frame as seen on Canvas 4.
Word on the street is that the upcoming smartphone will be Micromax's first ever full HD handset and is rumoured to run on the newly released Android v4.3 Jelly Bean OS powered by 1.2GHz quad-core processor and pack high-end cameras as well as smart gesture features.
