Micromax is launching its first notch display smartphone in India on December 18, and fans across India will be able to watch the event live. Micromax's upcoming smartphone with four cameras and a display notch will be a part of a new series called "Infinity N" and more details on the same will be shared at the Tuesday's event.
Micromax Infinity N-series launch in India will commence at 12 p.m., and the India-based brand will live-stream the entire event through its official Facebook channel. Interested folks can set a reminder for the event using Facebook event's "Get Reminder" option.
Micromax's teasers on Twitter haven't given any substantial information, except that the phone will be adorned in the popular gradient finish and that it will pack two rear and two front cameras with AI integration. The dual front cameras are accompanied by a dedicated LED flash, all of which are placed on the notch.
Micromax might be joining the notch-trend a tad too late, but it is here nevertheless. Most OEMs, including Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Huawei and Apple have adopted the notch to achieve higher screen-to-body ratio. But Samsung and Huawei have recently demonstrated how the notch can be replaced with an in-display camera.
The punch hole display might be limited to high-end phones for now, which is why the notch is here to stay for now. We've seen smaller notches, like the waterdrop style notch in Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus phones, but Micromax has gone with the iPhone X-style broad notch.
The quad-cameras will also serve a good selling point for Micromax Infinity N smartphone, but the rest of the features remain to be seen. It will be interesting to see how Micromax will price its upcoming smartphone, seeing it has received tough competition from Chinese OEMs, which affected the company's sales and market share significantly.
Will the notch save Micromax? We just have to wait and find out.
