Popular indigenous smartphone maker, Micromax has launched a phablet dubbed as Canvas XL in India.

The new Micromax phone tentatively titled as Canvas XL sports a big 6.0-inch display with qHD (960x540p) resolutions and runs on the Android v4.2 Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box.

Under the hood, it packs 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 32GB), 2450 mAh Li-Ion battery, 8.0-megapixel main camera (with flash support) and a 5.0-megapixel front-facing camera. On connectivity front, it boasts of 3G network support, dual-SIM slots, Bluetooth (with A2DP), Wi-Fi and GPRS/EDGE.

According to reports, Micromax Canvas XL (A119) will be made available at online store Home Shop 18 from 19 January for 13,990. Once released, Micromax's new phablet will be competing as a cheaper alternative to Intex Aqua Octa, Samsung's Mega Series (5.8 and 6.3) and HP Slate 6 (expected to hit markets in February).
