The Micromax Canvas Spark was unveiled amid much hype in April and thousands of units have been sold through flash sales, since May. It is available for grabs again via flash sale, and this time, it will have to take on other budget smartphones, especially the Xiaomi Redmi 2 and the Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) in the Indian market.

The India smartphone maker has priced its Canvas Spark at Rs 4,999 despite attractive features. However, there are devices such as the Xiaomi Redmi 2 and the Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) currently available in the market, and they are priced at Rs 5,999, just Rs 1,000 more than Canvas Spark. It's obvious these budget smartphones will have to compete with each other in the market.

While it is difficult to single out any one device from the lot as the best, we bring here a comparison of specifications of the Micromax Canvas Spark, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 and the Moto E (2nd Gen) to help you buy the smartphone that's worth your money:

Display: The Xiaomi Redmi 2 scores over its rivals with better resolution. It has a 4.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixels (312 ppi pixel density), while the Moto E (2nd Gen) has 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 540 x 960 pixels (245 ppi pixel density), and The Micromax Canvas Spark sports a 4.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 540 x 960 pixels (234 ppi pixel density).

Processor: The Micromax Canvas Spark is powered by Mediatek MT6582M processor compared to Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 seen in the Xiaomi Redmi 2 and the Moto E. There is no clear winner in this department though the Canvas Spark have a slight edge over its rivals.

Operating System: Both Moto E (2nd Gen) and Micromax Canvas Spark run on Android 5.0 Lollipop while Xiaomi Redmi 2 run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Android 5.1 Lollipop upgrade is available for Moto E, so it has an edge over its rivals.

Memory: The Xiaomi Redmi 2 houses 1 GB RAM for 8 GB internal memory variant and 2 GB RAM for 16 GB model (expandable up to 32 GB), while the Moto E and the Micromax Canvas Spark have 8 GB internal memory expandable up to 32 GB, and 1 GB RAM.

Camera: The Moto E is the winner with 8 MP rear camera and 5 MP front snapper, compared to 8 MP main camera, and 2 MP secondary snapper seen in the Micromax Canvas Spark and the Xiaomi Redmi 2.

Battery: Moto E scores over the other two devices with 2390 mAh battery, compared to 2200 mAh in Xiaomi Redmi 2, and 2000 mAh in Micromax Canvas Spark.

Conclusion: These budget smartphones stand head-to-head with each other as far as specifications are concerned but the Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) is a winner not only for its better camera and battery, but also for build quality and performance. However, it may be mentioned that the Micromax Canvas Spark is cheaper than the Moto E and the Redmi 2 by Rs 1,000.
