The Indian handset market in the past couple of months has seen an influx of quad-core smartphones, the latest being Micromax Canvas 4 and iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1. Now, tech geeks are bracing for the arrival of another high-speed demon, Xolo Play T1000, sometime in July.
Micromax, which had cemented its position as top Indian smartphone maker, now appears to be threatened with the debut of iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1 and the upcoming launch of Xolo Play T1000.
Xolo Play T1000 which is now up for pre-orders has specifications similar to those of Micromax Canvas 4. Amid rumours of full HD display, Micromax disappointed the technology world when it offered a 5-inch IPS display with 1280x720 pixel resolution. Despite this, the smartphone sported a premium look with its aluminium outline. Its specifications include Android v4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS, 1.2GHz Mediatek Cortex A7 quad-core processor, PowerVR SGX544 graphics engine, 1GB RAM and 16GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. The smartphone comes with video playback feature - Smart Pause, touch-free feature - 'Blow to Unlock', and a gesture control feature.
On the other hand, the upcoming Xolo Play T1000 sports a 4.7-inch IPS HD (720x1280p) display which boasts of OGS (One Glass Solution) screen technology and comes with Android V4.1.1 Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box. Other specifications include 1.5GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 416MHz 12-core GeForce graphics engine, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card, 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash.
The Xolo Play T1000 smartphone loses some points to Canvas 4 over its outdated OS version and internal memory considering that it is a gaming device.
Although several features of the two smartphones are similar, the price factor could play a crucial role in the minds of price-sensitive Indian consumers.
