The competition in the Indian smartphone market is getting tense and OEMs are going out of their way to attract buyers. Here's a good example of that as Micromax launched, or should we say re-launched, its Canvas 2 smartphone in partnership with Airtel to give what 4G smartphone users long for most.
Micromax Canvas 2 (2017) was announced by the Indian smartphone maker on Thursday, complete with a bundle of one year of free 4G data and unlimited calls on Airtel's network, for Rs. 11,999. The Canvas 2 (2017) will be available across India May 17 onwards.
The free 4G data and unlimited calling isn't the only bonus buyers get with the Canvas 2 2017 edition. Micromax has also partnered with Corning to offer the Gorilla Glass 5 in its Canvas 2 (2017), which is a strong USP for a phone in this price range.
"Sporting a 2.5D Cover Glass with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, the Canvas 2 gives up to 4 times better performance in drop failure height than other glasses. Equipped with improved drop performance and better retained strength, the device also offers a high standard of optical sharpness and protects against screen damage," the company said in a statement.
With such assurance on the display's quality, Micromax is willing to back it up with one-year free screen-replacement promise for the Canvas 2 (2017). This should certainly attract those who break their phone's screen more often and end up shelling out the top dollar in repair.
In case you are wondering about the specifications of the Canvas 2 (2017), it comes with a 5-inch HD display, a 13MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, Bokeh effect, Panorama, HDR and a 5MP front snapper with f/2.0 aperture, wide angle lens and a 5P lens. Photography enthusiasts won't fall short of exploring new limits of smartphone photography on the Canvas 2 (2017).
Under the hood, it packs a 1.3GHz quad-core chipset, 3GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage, 4G VoLTE support, and a 3050mAh battery. it also packs premium features such as fingerprint scanner, The handset comes in Champagne and Black colours.
With these specs and price, Micromax Canvas 2 (2017) is bound to give a tough fight to popular phones such as Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Lenovo K6 Power, Moto G5 Plus, Honor 6X and Coolpad Cool 1 Dual with its offline presence and attractive offers.
