Indian smartphone maker Zen Mobiles on Monday launched an affordable quad-core based 5.0-inch smartphone called Ultrafone 701 HD for ₹11,999.
With the launch of Ultrafone 701 HD, Zen Mobiles has become a new threat to MNCs Samsung, Nokia and even domestic smartphone leaders Micromax and Karbonn Mobiles, which are currently ruling the Indian handset market with their affordable range of quad-core smartphones.
Considering the price and features of Zen's new smartphone, it matches neck and neck with Micromax's flagship smartphone. Now, it has to be seen if Zen's new smartphone will be able to recreate Micromax A116 Canvas HD's cult following in the country.
Here is brief comparison of main specs between Micromax Canvas HD A116 and Zen Ultrafone 701 HD:
Display:
The Micromax Canvas HD A116 shows-off a 5.0-inch LCD display IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology with 720px1280p resolution and pixel density of 294 pixels per inch, whereas Zen Ultrafone 701 HD features an impressive 5.0-inch HD display with 1280x720p resolution.
Processor:
In terms of power, Micromax and Zen smartphone score even points as they both pack quad-core processors with the same 1.2GHz CPU speed.
Camera:
Micromax's Canvas HD sports an 8.0-megapixel rear-side camera with HD 1280x720p resolution video recording and a 2.0-megapixel front camera.
Its competitor, Zen Ultrafone 701 HD, too houses a similar 8.0-megapixel main camera with flash support, auto-focus and scores an additional point for its impressive 3.2-megapixel camera on the front side.
Mobile Operating System:
A116 Canvas HD and Ultrafone 701 HD stand even in this department as both run on Android mobile OS Jelly Bean. But it has to be noted that Zen's smartphone runs on the latest Jelly Bean OS v4.2, whereas Micromax features Jelly Bean OS v4.1.2.
In term of add-ons such as RAM, memory storage, battery capacity, network and data connectivity, both have more or less the same features with some minor differences.
Price:
According to recent reports, Micromax A116 Canvas HD's price is around ₹14,799 to ₹15,999, whereas Zen Ultrafone 701 HD holds a price-tag of ₹11,999, almost ₹3000 less than its competitor.
With such a low price-tag and less availability of Canvas HD in the market, Zen Ultrafone 701 HD has the potential to dent the sales of Micromax's flagship smartphone.
