That love-making may not lead to the desirable results all the time is known to all. That it can lead to life-threatening results is also true. In a rather uncommon incident, a Mexican teenager died of his girlfriend's love-bite earlier this week.
Julio Macias Gonzalez, a 17-year-old resident of Mexico City, suffered from severe muscle contractions at the dinner table. Paramedics were called but Gonzalez couldn't be saved. Doctors concluded that his death was caused by the hickey his girlfriend, 24, gave him, which formed a clot that travelled all the way to his brain and caused a stroke.
Here are a few other bizarre incidents that have led to the loss of life or caused pain, which worse than heartbreaks.
Another instance when a hickey turned out to be dangerous took place in 2011 in New Zealand, when a 44-year-old woman was unable to move her left arm after suffering from a stroke. Doctors detected a faded love bite on her neck and found that a major artery was harmed in her neck, leading to a dysfunctional left arm that left her paralysed.
It was found that the hickey she received formulated a blood clot in her neck, which travelled to her heart, resulting in a stroke. The woman was treated by Dr. Teddy Wu at Auckland's Middlemore Hospital. "To my knowledge, it's the first time someone has been hospitalised by a hickey," Wu told The Sun.
Dennis Rodman, a former Chicago Bulls star revealed recently that he fractured his penis thrice while having intercourse. The first time he broke his penis was when he made an attempt to jump into his girlfriend and have an intercourse. This attempt made by him was followed by a snapping sound and a lot of bleeding. Rodman ended up in déjà vu once again when his girlfriend wanted to try something new.
This is called "penile fracture" and about 1,600 such cases have been reported so far, as per the Telegraph.
A case of penile fracture in Delhi made news too when a 32-year-old man was rushed to a hospital's emergency department. He was in immense pain and it was found that he fractured his penis while having vigorous sex when he heard a loud crunching sound.
