Metallica Record Store Day 2016 live streaming: Where to watch the performance online for free [VIDEO]

This year's Record Store Day ambassadors Metallica has a special treat planned for their fans. As a part of their Record Store Day celebrations, the band has planned to broadcast their performance at Rasputin Music, one of the band's favourite record stores in Berkeley, California. The gig will be available for free live stream on Metallica's Facebook page starting April 16, 2016, at 4 p.m. (PDT).

This will be the band's first ever Facebook live stream and will feature them celebrating the remastered reissues of their first two records, "Kill Em' All" and "Ride The Lightning." The band said in a post on Facebook: "Record stores are where our musical education began and was subsequently nurtured and shaped, playing a huge role in who we are as musicians today."

Metallica -- James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo and Lars Ulrich -- will also release special deluxe edition box sets of the two albums. These box sets will contain previously unreleased concerts, demos, alternate versions of songs and never before published photographs of the band.

This is not Metallica's first Record Store Day performance at a Rasputin Music store. They were the unofficial ambassadors of the inaugural Record Store Day in 2008 and had started the celebrations with a show at a Rasputin Music store in Mountain View, California. "As music becomes available either through only the Internet or in gigantic airport-size retail stores, it is more important than ever - actually vital - that all us fanatics continue to bring to light the importance of records, and to support to the maximum of our abilities the independent record store outlet (sic)," said Lars Ulrich, drummer and founding member of Metallica, in a statement on the Record Store Day website.
