After months of speculations, Micromax's subsidiary YU Televentures Ltd on 12 May pulled the wraps off the much-awaited budget smartphone, Yuphoria, in India.
YU Yuphoria:
The new YU Yuphoria sports a metal frame on the edges, giving a sense of premium feel, better grip, and sturdy structure to the phone so as to withstand accidental drop. And on the front, it flaunts a 5 inch HD IPS TFT screen with full lamination technology, Gorilla Glass 3 shield, and anti-fingerprint coating.
Under the hood, YU Yuphoria houses 64-bit class Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 series quad-core SoC (System on Chip), Cyanogen OS 12 (based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop) 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory, 8mp camera on the rear-side, 5mp snapper on the front, and 2230 mAh battery which can run the phone for close to 160 hours under standby mode.
YuFit:
Besides the new smartphone Yuphoria, the company also unveiled smart fitness wristband, dubbed as YuFit, for just ₹999. Like all smartbands, it also measures calorie counts, fitness levels, and other activities.
USP of this band is that the user can take pictures on the smartphone and use the companion fitness app to get total calories of Dosa, idli, Samosa, and other Indian delicacies. If you put number of items eaten for breakfast (or lunch/dinner), it will give alerts on excess calories consumed and guide you on how to go about on next fitness training session to spend all the excess energy out of your body.
As a promotional campaign, the company has announced to give vouchers for free personal fitness training program for the first 1,000 customers for limited time.
HealthYU:
This mini health kit comes loaded with top-end medical equipments, all incorporated inside a small body that strikingly resembles an audio cassette. The company claims that HealthYU can measure body vitals, do ECG test, check skin temperature, blood-oxygen saturation, heart-rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure.
To perform these tests, users just need to attach the HealthYU to YU smartphone (on the rear-side). Once connected, open the dedicated app and put the right and left index fingers on the edge of the phone and thumbs on the display; then, all the aforementioned test results can be seen on the smartphone display. Micromax has priced this HealthYU device for just ₹4,999.
Both the HealthYU and YU-Fit band will go on sale next month.
Micromax YU Yuphoria India release and Price details:
The company has confirmed that Micromax YU Yuphoria sale will go live on Amazon India on 28 May. Prospective buyers are advised to get registered to become eligible to buy the new YU phone later this month. Registration window will open later in the evening 5:00 pm on Amazon India [HERE].
Competition:
With such a budget-friendly price-tag, feature-rich YU Yuphoria is poised to stir another storm in the Indian budget market like its older sibling Yureka did in the early part of the year.
And it is set to give a stiff challenge to Lenovo A6000 (& A6000 Plus), Xiaomi Redmi 2, Motorola Moto E (2 Gen), recently-released Huawei's Honor 4C.
