The long wait for the LG's 2014 flagship smartphone finally ended today (27 May) with the launch of G3 at a glitzy event in London, UK.
The new LG G3 comes loaded with huge upgrade over its predecessor G2 in terms of exterior look and internal hardware.
"The smartest innovation in a fast evolving smartphone market is creating harmony between advanced technology and a simplified user experience," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
"LG G3 is the result of our effort to actualize that idea into a tangible product. And we are extremely pleased with the result," he added.
LG G3 boasts of ergonomic design having power button and volume rockers on the rear-side with metal-finish and on the front, it flaunts a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560x1440p) having a staggering pixel density of 538 ppi (pixels per inch), two times more than the resolution found in conventional full HD display of current high-end phones.
Under the hood, it packs a 2.5GHz Snapdragon processor, Adreno 330 graphics engine, Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS and 3000 mAh (removable) battery and come in two storage variants – 16GB (with 2GB RAM) and 32GB (3GB RAM) eMMC models with options of expansions up to 128 GB.
Besides 2K display, LG G3 also boasts of 13.0-megapixel camera with OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilization Plus) and Laser auto-focus feature, which no other top-end phone in the industry boasts off. This feature measures the distance between the subject and the camera using a laser beam enabling quick capture of good quality photos even under low-light conditions.
Other value added features include Knock Code screen unlocker, Smart Key board (intuitive feature learns user writing habits and predicts words in future texting), Smart Notice (this more like Google Now feature which recommends suggestion, like suggesting user to take umbrella by refer temperature and weather data from internet) and Smart Security (this will provide kill switch to user, if they ever lose the phone, he/she can remotely disable phone and clear data. The feature also provides folder lock options as well).
LG G3 will also be accopanied by three accessories - QuickCircle Case, LG Tone Infinim (Bluetooth based stereo-headset) and wireless charger. All three accessories are expected to be sold seperately.
The company has confirmed that the new LG G3 will hit the stores on 28 May in South Korea and later to global regions via 170 carriers, but the price, region and other release details have been kept under wraps.
