Met Gala is better known as the Fashion Oscar. There is indeed a lot of pressure to make the event glamorous. Unlike other red carpets, the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume institute Gala stands out amongst others.

The big night is actually the Costume Institute fund raising gala to celebrate the newest exhibition which dictates the theme of the year. And, this year it is dedicated to the legendary Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons.
And, to match the theme this year, some celebs showed a little bravery with the risk of failing. While Kendall Jenner, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid looked stunning on the red carpet, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Bella Hadid just missed the mark with some strange and surprising ensembles.
Here is our list:
Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Madonna
Katy Perry, who is one of the co-chairs of the gala, attends the event with custom Maison Margiela piece, designed by John Galliano.
Rihanna made her appearance in a Rei Kawakubo gown that is bizarrely made of a pile of fabric petals.
Madonna's army print Moschino gown definitely made her ready for combat.
Nicki Minaj, Bella Hadid and Kylie Jenner
Nicki Minaj tried to look like the avant-garde lady in her fierce red H&M satin ensemble but it could not convince many.
Bella Hadid's Alexander Wang jumpsuit might seem like a fashion disaster.
Kylie Jenner's Atelier Versace (who was also Kylie's date for the night) sheer, glittering number missed the mark at the Met Gala.
Tracee Ellis Ross, Kerry Washington and Jaden Smith
Tracee Ellis Ross did her figure no favors in oddly shaped Comme Des Garçons ensemble.
And, Jaden Smith should have awarded for the weird accessory of the year while he was carrying the handful of his own dreadlocks.
Kerry Washinton wore a Michael Kors number (Designer Michael Kors was Kerry's date of the night) but the figure-hugging black and silver dress left little to be desired.
Pharrell Williams, Helen Lasichanh and Solange Knowles
Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh absolutely got the theme right in Comme des Garcons but definitely did not dazzle on the red carpet.
Beyonce did not attend the gala because of her pregnancy but her sister Solange Knowles failed to impress in black puffy Thom Brown dress.
