&TV's new show "Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai," took a generation leap Wednesday, March 30. The leap in the storyline marked the television debut of Bollywood actress Amrita Rao. Amrita entered the show as grown-up and graceful singer Kalyani, while Aditi Vasudev of "Do Dooni Chaar" fame was seen as a grown-up Ketki.
With this, Jannat Zubair Rahmani and Mehnaz Mann, who played the roles of young Kalyani and Ketki, respectively, took an exit from the show.
Elated with her television debut, the "Vivaah" actress told India Forums that her family is very excited to see her on the small screen. "Yes, the wait is finally over and I am all set to make my television debut tonight on &TV at 8 PM. My family and friends are very excited that they will be able to catch me on their TV screens in the comfort of their homes, especially my grandparents, who are too old to walk into the cinema hall," Amrita said.
"I have shot for several movies but shooting for this television series has proven to be so exciting and fun especially because we have a great team of young, vibrant people in the unit. My director Kushal Zaveri is a really cool director with a new age vision and its fun working in that space," she added.
"Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai," which depicts the journey of two sisters who turn rivals due to certain circumstances, has been garnering a positive response from the viewers. It is a finite series of 130 episodes and features a talented cast including, Pallavi Joshi, Zarina Wahab and Deepti Naval.
The journey of the sisters whose lives revolve around music will be depicted in three generations. In the next generation leap, veteran actresses Deepti will take over Amrita's role. The senior actress will play a 50-year-old Kalyani.
