Car lovers in India already have a lot to look out for in 2015 and the latest report adds more spice to it. Mercedes is reportedly planning to launch its stylish AMG GT in India this March as a replacement to its SLS AMG as the company's flagship sports car.
This news brings excitement among the thousands of Mercedes fans and owners in the country. The luxury sports car delivers a strong statement inside out.
According to the sources close to the brand, Mercedes will launch two variants of the AMG GT, the base and S, OverDrive magazine reports. The two-door sports car will draw power from a 4.0-litre biturbo V8 that churns out 462PS on the base model and 510PS on the GT S. With this powerful beast inside, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph within four seconds and we are not talking just the AMG GT S variant here. Both variants are equipped with 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission and electronic differential.
Staying true to its flagship standards, the AMG GT will feature double wishbone suspensions, electronically controlled dampers, adaptive braking, attention assist, Pre-Safe Brake with full autonomous braking and high-beam assist, the report added. But radar-controlled safety elements like guided cruise control, lane assist and collision prevention will be excluded in the Indian make.
The Mercedes AMG GT will feature wide use of aluminum build that helps in performance and handling. But the premium use of materials will reflect directly on the price tag. If the reports are to be believed, the AMG GT base variant will cost around Rs. 2 crore while the GT S versions will add another Rs. 50 lakh to the value, road taxes and other charges excluded.
