After the stellar performance in 2015 that saw Mercedes-Benz cruising to top spot in luxury car sales overtaking Audi India, the German company is targeting to keep the momentum on with 12 new launches in 2016. The company just launched GLE 450 AMG Coupe for 86.4 lakh and the upcoming Auto Expo 2016 will give information on the cars that can be expected next.
Mercedes-Benz India has confirmed presence of GLS SUV, S-Class Cabriolet and Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard for the show. GLS SUV is the updated GL-Class with new name in line with the brand's new nomenclature. The face-lifted version gets a redesigned front-end, which is in line with the new brand design language as seen in S-Class. The centre console now boasts of standalone tablet-sized eight-inch screen with touch-pad control in place of the integrated display in the outgoing model. The GLS is available in petrol and diesel engines. The Indian spec model would be GLS350d 4MATIC and features 3.0-litre V6 turbo engine that develops 255bhp and 616Nm of torque, mated to nine-speed automatic transmission.
S-Class Cabriolet will be positioned as a halo car in the lineup and the allocation for India will be limited. The drop down version of the flagship sedan is likely to get a V8 4,663cc engine that has an output of 449bhp and maximum torque 700Nm. The luxury line-up for the show will also include the high security version of the Mercedes-Maybach 600. The top-of-the-line luxury sedan of the resurrected luxury sub-brand will feature most modern safety and luxury features on safety and luxury.
In addition to passenger cars, the company will also showcase F1 W06 hybrid race car. The Mercedes F1 W06 hybrid is a highly successful F1 racing car driven by reigning F1 champion Lewis Hamilton and his teammate Nico Rosberg in the 2015 Formula One season.
