Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz launched its new B-class in India on Wednesday with a price tag of ₹27.95 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
Available in diesel and petrol engine options, the new B-Class that first made its appearance at 2014 Paris Motor Show gets upgraded diesel engine. While the petrol engine 1.6 litre mill churns out 120bhp max power and 200Nm peak torque, the 2.1 litre diesel motor is now tuned to generate 136PS and 300Nm. Both the engines come mated to dual-clutch seven-speed automatic gearbox.
On the exterior, the new B-class gets redesigned front and rear bumper headlamps integrated with Daytime Running Lights (DRL), new LED tail-lights and bigger airdam. Inside the cabin, the model features 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a multi-function steering wheel and ambient lighting.

The new B-Class provides an unmatched value for young families, at the same time accentuating sportiness and driving dynamics which leads to the car's unmatched popularity in India," Financial Express quoted Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, as saying.
The company also updated its A Class model in India with a new diesel engine. The A class diesel now gets power from 2.1 litre diesel motor.
Mercedes-Benz's current line-up in India includes A Class, B Class, sedans C Class, E Class, and S Class, besides the locally made S Class, E-Class, C-Class, GL-Class and the M-Class models. There are also AMG models like C 63 AMG, E 63 AMG, G 63 AMG, GL 63 AMG, SLS AMG and ML 63 AMG.
