German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz launched the petrol version of its premium SUV GLS 400 4MATIC in India on Wednesday, Sept. 7. The GLS 400 petrol has been priced at Rs. 82.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
With GLS400 petrol, Mercedes-Benz has completed its petrol portfolio in India.The company had promised to bring the petrol variants of all its models in India that are available with diesel engines.The seven-seater SUV, GLS400 petrol, entered the Indian market within three months of the arrival of its diesel variants in the country.
At the heart of the new GLS 400 is a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that is tuned to churn out 329bhp of peak power and 480Nm of peak torque as low as 1600rpm. The engine comes coupled to nine-speed automatic transmission. The GLS 400 will be available in two colours in India — Polar White and Obsidian Black
"The introduction of the GLS 400 4MATIC is a strategic move as it gives the customers the flexibility to choose between the petrol and the diesel variants of their popular SUV. The GLS offers its occupants class leading luxury experience that no other full-size luxury SUV can match in this segment. This is also the fifth SUV variant we introduced this year, further bolstering our SUV portfolio which remains the most comprehensive in the luxury car segment," Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said.
The key features of the GLS 400 4MATIC include panoramic sunroof, full LED headlamps with intelligent light system, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Harman Kardon sound system.
