Mercedes-Benz is gearing up for yet another launch on October 14, which will be the 13th model on the brand's "15 models in 2015" product strategy.
According ET Auto, the new launch is the GLE SUV. The new GLE is the previous M-Class that received new name according to the new nomenclature strategy of the manufacturer.
The face-lifted version gets a redesigned front design that is in line with the new brand design language as seen on S-Class. The SUV also gets new LED lights front and rear, large air-dams, silver skid-plate front and back and twin rectangular exhausts and roof rails.
Inside, the GLE gets a new seven-inch infotainment screen and a new 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel. There are many choices for upholstery colours. The Artico leather upholstery, new multifunction sports steering, restyled front and rear bumper and 20-inch alloy wheels can be fitted optional AMG add-ons.
The GLE SUV is likely to continue with the same power trains for India. The 250D is powered by in-line, four-cylinder 2143cc diesel engine that develops 203bhp at 4200rpm and 500Nm of torque at 1800rpm. The bigger 350D variant features V6, 2987cc engine that develops 255bhp at 3600rpm and 619Nm of torque at starting from 2400rpm. Both engines will be mated to a new 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox, which makes its debut in India and power is transmitted to all four wheels via the 4MATIC AWD.
The GLE will be locally assembled at Mercedes' factory in Chakan, Pune, and will be priced slightly higher to the outgoing model.
